SINGAPORE - A 26-year-old woman is slated to be charged on Aug 14 over her suspected involvement in fraudulently registering SIM cards for monetary gain.

The police said in a statement on Aug 13 that the woman was found to have allegedly solicited the assistance of a friend and used her company to register for more than 500 SIM cards with Simba Telecom in July and August 2025.

The woman then collected the SIM cards from designated pick-up locations authorised by the telco.

She also allegedly worked with another friend to apply for more than 600 SIM cards with the same telco, under a shell company, in June and July 2025.

All the SIM cards were purportedly handed over to an unknown person, said the police, adding that the woman received $20 to $25 per card in exchange.

“Criminal syndicates exploit local SIM cards and eSIMs as channels of communication related to scams, unlicensed moneylending and vice, among other illicit activities,” said the police.

If found guilty, she may be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to three years, or both.

Members of the public who know of anyone who may be involved in such criminal activities may submit a report to the police on 1800-255-0000 or online at www.police.gov.sg/i-witness
