SINGAPORE – A 68-year-old woman allegedly assaulted a domestic helper with a pair of scissors and a nail clipper, causing the helper multiple injuries.

Lim Lay Choo was handed a maid abuse charge on Aug 13.

She is accused of pinching the helper’s right forearm on Jan 4 while they were in a Bukit Batok Housing Board flat, according to court documents.

Lim also allegedly used a pair of scissors to poke the helper’s right arm and a nail clipper to “clip” the same limb.

The helper’s right arm was later found to have seven scratch marks, an abrasion and a bruise.

Her alleged abuser is expected to plead guilty on Sept 24.

Offenders convicted of assaulting a domestic helper can be jailed for up to six years, fined up to $10,000 or both.
