Suspected underwear thief nabbed

SINGAPORE - A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing women's underwear in the Queenstown and Redhill area.

The suspect was arrested at Margaret Drive on Friday after police received a report of a theft at Strathmore Avenue on the same day.

Officers from Clementi Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect from ground enquiries and investigation.

One female undergarment was found on the man when he was arrested.

Police believe the suspect may have been involved in other similar cases around the area, in the Strathmore, Queenstown and Redhill estates.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Saturday with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or both.
