SINGAPORE – A police special constable allegedly stole two pairs of AirPods worth $600 in total at a police base in Ulu Pandan Road in 2024.
Muhammad Syafiq Sreyandy Mohd Faizal, 24, who was charged with two counts of theft on Feb 10, is expected to plead guilty in March.
Court documents state that Syafiq was in the support and technical office at the Protective Security Command base at around 12.45pm on July 13, 2024, when he allegedly stole a pair of AirPods worth $300.
He is accused of stealing another pair of AirPods, also worth $300, at the same office on Aug 6 that year.
In a statement to The Straits Times on Feb 19, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it swiftly started its investigation against the then police special constable after a report was made about the case.
A police spokesperson added: “Officers of SPF, including national service officers, are expected to uphold the law and maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
“We deal sternly with officers who break the law, including charging them in court... We are unable to comment further as court proceedings are ongoing.”
For each count of theft, an offender can be jailed for up to seven years and fined.
