Man accused of killing cat allegedly stabbed four more in Toa Payoh

SINGAPORE – A man who allegedly killed a cat in October 2024 is now accused of stabbing and injuring four more cats in Toa Payoh.
Court documents did not disclose details about the weapons purportedly used or if these four cats survived the alleged attacks.
Ryan Tan Yi Bin, 26, who was handed four more animal cruelty charges on Feb 4, is now accused of abusing five cats in all.
He was at Block 38 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh on Sept 21, 2024, when he allegedly stabbed a ginger and white cat, causing a wound that was about 5cm long.
Tan is accused of stabbing three more cats – one at Block 36 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh and two at Block 200 Toa Payoh North – the next day.
The Singaporean had earlier appeared in court on Oct 8, 2024, and was handed his first animal cruelty charge involving a cat called Field Field.
On Oct 7 that year, he allegedly kicked the cat, repeatedly stamped on its head inside a lift, and threw it down from the 34th floor of Block 78 Lorong Limau, near Whampoa Road, killing it.
Tan’s case will be mentioned again in court on March 4.
First-time offenders convicted of animal cruelty can be jailed for up to 18 months and fined up to $15,000 for each charge.
Repeat offenders can be jailed for up to three years and fined up to $30,000 for each charge.
