SINGAPORE - An Indonesian domestic helper was charged in court on Tuesday (June 13) with stealing two Hermes bags worth $24,000 and clothing from her employer, celebrity hairstylist Addy Lee.

Namih Nurlaela , 40, allegedly stole a brown Hermes Kelly bag, a black Birkin bag, each valued at $12,000, two jackets and five T-shirts of unknown value, from the 46-year-old at his three-bedroom Oceanfront apartment in Sentosa Cove sometime in February this year.

Mr Lee, whose actual name is Lee Eng Tat, is the chairman and founder of Monsoon Group Holdings.

The prosecution sought an adjournment for police investigation and to get the Deputy Public Prosecutor's directions. Bail of $10,000 was allowed and her bailor must be a Singaporean.

Her case will be mentioned again on June 23. If convicted of theft as a servant, Namih, who was unrepresented, could be jailed for up to seven years and fined.
