The case has been adjourned to Dec 12.

If convicted, Chan can be fined up to $5,000, jailed for up to two years or both.

He was the second lawyer to appear in court on Nov 8 for a traffic offence.

In an unrelated case, Brian Ng Pheng Kin, 43, a partner at Rajah & Tann,

was fined $5,000

after he pleaded guilty to one charge of causing grievous hurt while driving in a careless manner.

Ng was travelling in Bukit Timah in September 2023 when he drove his car in a right-turning lane through a red light at a junction and collided into a motorcyclist.

Video footage from Ng’s in-car camera was shown in court, and the 29-year-old motorcyclist could be heard screaming in pain upon impact.

The motorcyclist was later taken to hospital with a laceration to his calf and a fractured left ankle.
