SINGAPORE - A motorist has been charged with causing hurt while driving in a dangerous manner, after he allegedly failed to stop at a red traffic light signal while driving a car.
The driver of the other car and its four passengers were hurt in the accident, which happened around 12.40pm on March 22.
The 56-year-old motorist – Badrolizam Kamsin, who is an Internal Security Department (ISD) officer – is facing one charge.
Responding to queries from The Straits Times on Dec 16, ISD said the case arose from his alleged actions as a private individual.
Its spokesperson added: “(He) is currently an officer from ISD... As the case is before the courts, we are unable to comment further.”
According to court documents, Badrolizam was driving a car when he reached the signalised junction of Jalan Boon Lay and Boon Lay Avenue.
He allegedly failed to stop at a red light signal and the accident occurred soon after that.
His case has been adjourned to January 2025.
For causing hurt to others while driving a vehicle in a dangerous manner, a first-time offender can be jailed for up to two years and fined up to $10,000.
A repeat offender can be jailed for up to four years and fined up to $20,000.
