Man pleads guilty to molesting maid

He asked his maid for a kiss, but when she rejected him, Francis Lim Boon Liang, 49, went on to molest her on four separate occasions.

This was in late 2016, and after the last incident, the 24-year-old Indonesian maid fled to the Manpower Ministry in Havelock Road and told ministry officials about her ordeal.

Yesterday, Lim, a sales manager and father of two, pleaded guilty in a district court to two counts of outraging her modesty. For each count of molestation, he can be jailed for up to two years and fined or caned.


Drug offender left ex-lover disfigured

While out on bail last year, a drug offender permanently disfigured the face of his former girlfriend when he slashed it with a penknife following an argument. Yesterday, Yusli Ismail, 42, pleaded guilty in a district court to two drug-related offences and one count of causing grievous hurt to the woman with a weapon.

At about 11.15pm on Sept 9, he encountered Ms Norhayati Mohd Abas, 26, in Geylang Road. She accused him of stealing her money. They argued and he slapped her before slashing her face.

Yusli is expected to be sentenced today.


Man who ran over worker jailed 2 weeks

Tired of waiting for a forklift driver to load goods onto a lorry, a labourer decided to do the job himself. Instead, he ended up running over another worker.

Foo Kien How, who was not licensed to operate the vehicle, caused injuries including collapsed lungs and multiple fractures to Yan Zhenying, 54. The incident took place at ST Paper Resources on Aug 25 last year. Foo, a 29-year-old Malaysian, was jailed for two weeks on Monday after pleading guilty to causing grievous hurt by performing a negligent act.
