69-year-old driver arrested after hitting and killing 65-year-old woman while parking

SINGAPORE - A 69-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday morning after she knocked into and killed a pedestrian while she was parking her car on Wednesday morning.

The victim, a 65-year-old woman, had just finished shopping for groceries at a market at Bukit Panjang, reported Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao.

She was walking home through a open-air carpark at Petir Road, in front of Block 203, when the accident happened.

The driver is believed to have been parking her car at the time, and mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes.

The victim was pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.

Police said the driver was arrested for causing death by a negligent act. Investigations are ongoing.
