SINGAPORE - Five men who entered a restricted area along the Sentosa Boardwalk to fish are being investigated by the police for wilful trespass.

The first case involved two men who were detained by Sentosa Rangers on Wednesday (Oct 18) for entering the restricted area at the utilities bridge along the boardwalk that connects the mainland to Sentosa island.

Just two days later, another three men were detained for trespassing into the same area.

The men had climbed over a fence to enter the restricted area to fish, even though there was a sign that said "No Fishing" at the entrance of the gate, the police found.

If convicted of wilful trespass, they can be fined up to $1,000.

The police reminded the public that anyone who wilfully trespasses without a satisfactory excuse will be investigated.
