SINGAPORE – Two men who were previously charged with unrelated offences are now accused of possessing weapons.

On Jan 14, Muhammad Farhan Amran, 22, and Poh Wei Kiong, 34, were each handed one count of having a weapon near Block 492D, Tampines Street 45 shortly after midnight on Jan 13.

Farhan is accused of having a machete while Poh allegedly had a knuckleduster.

In a statement, police said officers were alerted to a case involving an unauthorised possession of a gun in Woodlands Close at around 4.20pm on Jan 12.

They managed to establish Farhan’s identity and arrested him.

A police spokesperson said he was found in the company of four other people.

Officers also seized multiple items including two airsoft guns, a samurai sword, a baton, three machetes, an axe, a dagger, a knuckleduster, etomidate-laced e-vaporiser pods and two deregistered car plates.

Farhan, who now faces more than 20 charges in total, was first hauled to court in 2024.

Among other things, he is accused of working with another man to steal a motorcycle worth around $8,000 on Jan 14, 2022.

On June 9 that year, he allegedly engaged in a conspiracy with an unknown person to cheat a bank.

Farhan is said to have induced the bank to open an account in his name without conducting due diligence on the ultimate beneficial owner, court documents said, without stating what the account was used for.

While out on bail, he allegedly possessed a machete on Jan 13.

Poh was charged with drug trafficking in 2025.

He is accused of having eight packets of “vegetable matter”, believed to contain cannabis, in a unit at the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road on July 3 that year.

He is said to have reoffended by possessing a knuckleduster on Jan 13, 2026.

The cases involving both men have been adjourned to Jan 21.
