2 men charged over vaping-related cases; one allegedly tried to possess 5,000 vaporisers for sale

SINGAPORE – Two men were charged over vaping-related offences on Sept 25, with one accused of trying to possess 5,000 disposable vaporisers for sale.
Melvin Wong Mun Hao, 32, who faces one charge, is said to have committed the offence in Sungei Kadut Street 2 on Feb 28.
According to his charge sheet, Wong had tried to possess 5,000 disposable vaporisers for sale. No other details were given.
The Singaporean’s case will be mentioned again in court on Nov 6.
Separately, Shaun Phua Ming Hui, 31, faces 45 charges and is accused of committing his offences in 2023 and 2024.
Among other things, the Singaporean allegedly offered for sale 22 disposable vaporisers for $333 via WhatsApp on May 4, 2023.
Phua is also said to have offered 20 disposable vaporisers for $316 through the same messaging platform on Jan 28, 2024.
His case has been adjourned to Oct 23.
A first-time offender who distributes, imports or sells vapes and their components can be jailed for up to six months and fined up to $10,000.
A repeat offender can be jailed for up to a year and fined up to $20,000.
