SINGAPORE - Starting from March 1, blue Chas card holders can enjoy a 4 per cent discount at Sheng Siong supermarkets every Thursday.

The promotion will run until Dec 31, with a purchase limit of $200 a day.

Eligible customers will have to show their physical or digital Chas cards at the checkout counter.

Households with a monthly income of up to $1,500 per person can apply for the blue Chas card.

All products are eligible for the discount except infant formula milk powder (stage one and stage two), tobacco, alcohol, phonecards, and medicinal products and devices. The disposable carrier bag charge and Sheng Siong vouchers are also on the exclusion list.

Apart from this new discount, Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 60 and above are eligible for a 4 per cent discount on Tuesday and Wednesday, said a Sheng Siong spokesperson. They have to present their identity cards for verification.

The spokesperson said offering discounts is a way for the home-grown supermarket chain to give back to the community as part of SG60 celebrations.

Separately, FairPrice Group has also

extended its discount schemes

for seniors and lower-income groups at its supermarkets and Unity pharmacies until Dec 31.
