Chicken importers cut staff wages, give unpaid leave as Malaysia's export ban persists

Several Singapore poultry importers have started cutting staff pay and giving employees unpaid leave amid uncertainty over the lifting of the Malaysian export ban on live broiler chickens.
Some of these importers also own slaughterhouses in Singapore, forcing them to cut the salaries of some of the senior office staff and reduce working hours of ground staff since workload at the slaughterhouses has dropped by half.
