The World Cup is a time of great celebration and national pride, yet the passion that has enveloped entire countries has whizzed over my head, much like a football flying past the fat kid nobody wanted for their team.

For you see, I have not watched a single match since the tournament kicked off last month. My knowledge of the Beautiful Game has come instead from other indirect sources.
