CNB nabs 92 drug offenders in 11-day islandwide operation

SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested 92 drug offenders in an 11-day islandwide operation.

CNB seized about 315g of heroin, 136g of Ice, 113g of ketamine, 41g of cannabis, 232 Ecstasy tablets and 97 Erimin-5 tablets, it said in a statement on Friday (Oct 14).

The areas covered by the operation include Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Bishan, Bukit Merah, Hougang, Jurong, Pasir Ris, Punggol, Senja, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Woodlands and Yishun.

One of the drug offenders caught was a 28-year-old Singaporean man, who was arrested in Tampines Central on Oct 4 with about 90g of heroin and a small amount of Ice.

Two suspected drug abusers - a 26-year old woman and a 29-year-old man, both Singaporeans - were also arrested at his home.

Officers recovered about 39g of heroin and 22g of Ice from the unit. A small amount of heroin was also recovered from the 29-year-old man.

CNB said investigations are underway.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin - a week's supply for 180 users - faces the death penalty.
