SINGAPORE - Train commuters on a 10-station stretch of the Circle Line (CCL) had their journeys delayed during lunchtime on Dec 23, following a signalling fault between the Bartley and Lorong Chuan stations.
The delay started at about noon and affected train service between the Paya Lebar and Botanic Gardens stations. Free regular bus services were activated between these stations.
Operator SMRT said in an X post at 12.46pm that commuters should factor in an additional 15 minutes when travelling between the affected stations.
SMRT updated the post at 1.19pm that services have returned to normal and free regular bus services have ceased.
In a Facebook post at 1.50pm, the operator said its engineers have resolved the issue, and announcements were made in trains and stations during the delay to keep commuters informed about the situation.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to your commute,” SMRT said.
The disruption on Dec 23 was the third on the CCL in 10 days.
A signalling fault on Dec 16 resulted in additional travelling time of 30 minutes between the Farrer Road and HarbourFront stations, while train service was disrupted for about an hour on a 10-stop stretch on the evening of Dec 14, after a train stalled at Tai Seng station.
