Organisation: Singapore Press Holdings 

Incorporated in 1984, main board-listed Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) is Asia’s leading media organisation, engaging minds and enriching lives across multiple languages and platforms, ranging from print, digital, radio and out-of-home media.

The SPH Journalism Scholarship is open to all Singapore citizens with a GCE ‘A’ levels, an International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent. SPH looks for students with a strong interest in writing, leadership potential and good communication skills. All fields of study at either local or overseas universities are available except for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture and law. 

The scholarship fully covers undergraduate expenses. In return, students will spend their holidays and post-graduate years working as a journalist in SPH. It is a bonded scholarship.

The application deadline for undergraduate scholarships is in February and for mid-term scholarships in April.

Organisation: Public Service Commission 

The Public Service Commission safeguards the fundamental principles of integrity, impartiality, and meritocracy in the Singapore Public Service.
 
The PSC Scholarship is the premier government scholarship, open to Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents willing to take up Singapore Citizenship. Recipients may choose from a diverse range of courses for the PSC Scholarship. Alternatively, there are scholarships for specialised areas in Engineering, Foreign Service, Law, Medicine or Dentistry, Public Finance, Teaching, the Singapore Armed Forces or the Singapore Police Force. 
 
Upon completing their studies, scholars will serve Singapore and Singaporeans through one of three career paths: Public Administration, Professional Service or Uniformed Services. 
 
Applicants must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship and Have a GCE A Levels, International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic or NUS High School diploma, or other high school diploma/certificate. 
 
The scholarship will include tuition fees, maintenance and other allowances, return airfare (if applicable), sponsorship of PSC development programmes, approved student exchange programmes, summer programmes and CCAs and sponsorship of Master’s degree (if requirements are met). 
 
The typical deadline for registering is March for the undergraduate scholarship and April for the mid-term scholarship. It is a bonded scholarship.

Organisation: Ministry of Education 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) formulates and implements education policies on education structure, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. 

The MOE Education Merit Scholarship is open to students interested in studying Languages, Humanities, Art and Music, Physical Education and Sports Science, Social Sciences, Sciences and Mathematics. It is offered to outstanding candidates with a strong passion for Education and teaching.

Applicants should have strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills and a keen passion for education on top of excellent results and CCA records. 

The scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens, or Singapore Permanent Residents who are willing to take up Singapore citizenship before embarking on studies. 

The scholarship includes sponsorship of tuition fees and other approved charges, maintenance and pre-studies allowance, return economy airfare (for overseas studies only), sponsorship of approved CCAs and student exchange or summer programmes and a possible sponsorship of a Master’s degree. 

Scholars will also have programmes and attachments with MOE or schools, and will be enrolled into the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) teacher preparation programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE) after completion of their first degree.

It is a bonded scholarship.

The Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) oversees the development of the infocomm technology, cyber security, media and design sectors; the national library, national archives and public libraries; as well as Government’s information and public communication policies.
 
MCI’s mission is to connect our people to community, government and opportunity, enabled by trustworthy infrastructure and technology.
 
The MCI Information Service Scholarship allows scholars to choose from a diverse range of courses and universities for sponsored studies in Australia, China, United Kingdom, Singapore or the United States.  
 
The scholarship includes tuition and other compulsory fees, maintenance and other allowances and return economy class airfare (if applicable). It is tenable for most disciplines of studies, except Medicine and Dentistry. Scholars can choose to study at NUS, NTU and SMU, or at any top overseas universities offering the courses of study allowed under our scholarship.
 
Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or PRs intending to take up Singapore citizenship. They should also possess strong leadership qualities with an interest to pursue a career in the Information Service and GCE 'A' Levels (minimum 10 academic units), International Bacculaureate (IB), or Mass Communications Polytechnic Diploma holders (with merit) or equivalent.
 
It is a bonded scholarship. Upon graduation, all scholars will join MCI as an Information Officer. 
 
The typical deadline for registration is 10 days after the A level results in March or April.

Organisation: Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)

CAAS’ mission is to “Grow a safe, vibrant air hub and civil aviation system, making a key contribution to Singapore's success”. CAAS' roles are to enable the growth of the air hub and aviation industry, oversee and promote safety in the industry, provide air navigation services, and develop Singapore as a centre of excellence for aviation knowledge and human resource development.

Excellent results and good CCA records are expected of students applying for the undergraduate scholarships. For those looking for the mid-term scholarship, they should also have excellent results and be on track to graduate with at least 2nd Upper Class Honours or equivalent.

The undergraduate scholarship includes tuition and compulsory fees, maintenance allowance, sponsorship for student exchange and summer programmes, return airfare for overseas scholars and a full postgraduate sponsorship upon approval.  The sponsorship is tenable for all disciplines of study except Medicine and Dentistry.

The mid-term scholarship includes tuition and compulsory fees (for remaining years of study) and maintenance allowance (for remaining years of study). 

It is a bonded scholarship. Bond period will be pro-rated according to year of study.

Organisation: Health Promotion Board

The Health Promotion Board (HPB) is a government organisation committed to promoting healthy living in Singapore. Their goal is to increase the quality and years of healthy life, as well as prevent illness, disability and premature death. 

The HPB Scholarship comes in two main categories. The Full-Term Scholarship (available to pre-university students with excellent GCE ‘A’ Level results or the equivalent) and the Mid-Term Scholarship for those in the midst of their undergraduate studies.

They cover majority of the disciplines except for Medicine, Dentistry, Accountancy and all Allied Health Sciences. A full list is available on the website. Applicants must be Singapore Citizens with with excellent GCE ‘A’ Level results with a minimum of 10 academic units or equivalent and possess good leadership achievements.

The scholarship sponsors education in Singapore, the US or the UK. It includes full tuition and other compulsory fees, monthly maintenance allowance, hostel fees (for local studies) and expenses for overseas student exchange programmes (for local studies). There will also be sponsorship for approved development courses and a mid-course internship with HPB. 

It is a bonded scholarship. The typical deadline for registration is in March.

Organisation: Housing & Development Board

The Housing & Development Board (HDB) is Singapore's public housing authority. They plan and develop Singapore's housing estates; building homes and transforming towns to create a quality living environment for all. 

The HDB Scholarship is open to Singaporeans or Permanent Residents with excellent results and good CCA records. The agency is looking for students in a wide range of courses, including: Architecture/Urban Design, Town Planning/Geography, Engineering (Civil/Electrical/ Mechanical), Economics/Sociology, Actuarial Science/Statistics, Building/Real Estate, Communications and New Media, Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Information Systems.

HDB scholars will also be attached to HDB for an 8 to 12-week structured attachment programme, where they will be exposed to the different facets of HDB’s operations.

It is a bonded scholarship.

You can submit your application for the HDB Undergraduate and Specialist Scholarships via the Brightsparks portal from the day the ‘A’ Level results are released. The typical deadline is in March.

Organisation: Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines Limited is the flag carrier airline of Singapore with its hub at Singapore Changi Airport. 

The company offers three scholarships for studies overseas: The Open Overseas Scholarship, The Mendaki Undergraduate Scholarship and SINDA Undergraduate Scholarship.

The Open Overseas Scholarship is open to everyone. The Mendaki Undergraduate Scholarship is only applicable for Muslim Singapore citizens. Applicants interested in the SINDA Undergraduate Scholarship must either be or have a parent who is a Singapore Citizen belonging to an Indian sub ethnic group.

All courses are considered except Architecture, Biomedical, Biotechnology, Dentistry, Law, Medicine and Pharmacy. 

The scholarship includes tuition and other compulsory fees, maintenance allowance, a one-off pre-studies allowance, air passage at beginning and end of course, vacation attachments to a Singapore Airlines office, plus an annual trip to any point on Singapore Airlines' global network. Singapore Airlines will also reimburse fees for university applications and entrance tests. 

Scholars are bonded to the company for six years. The application cycle for this scholarship typically opens following the release of ‘A’ level results and closes two weeks later.

Organisation: IE Singapore

IE Singapore is the government agency that promotes international trade and partners Singapore companies to go global.

IE Singapore’s Undergraduate Scholarship awards are available for studies at renowned universities in the Germany, China, France, United Kingdom, Singapore, United States and Japan. It is available for all disciplines except Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Law and Architecture, Music & Nursing. 

Aside from excellent results, the company is also looking for someone with strong leadership qualities and potential, good communication (written & spoken) and interpersonal skills, foreign language/s and international experience and a keen sense for global business and trade.

The scholarship includes full tuition and compulsory fees, medical/health insurance (where required by the university), pre-studies allowance, monthly maintenance allowance, return airfare (for overseas universities) and sponsorship for approved student exchange programme. 

It is a bonded scholarship. The typical deadline for application is in October.

Organisation: Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA)

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore is a statutory board under the Government of Singapore that regulates food safety, safeguards animal and plant health, and facilitates the agri-food and fisheries trade sectors.

The scholarship is for those interested in studying agricultural sciences, Aquaculture, Food Science/Food Technology, Horticultural Science/Botany/Plant Science, Public Health, Science, Veterinary Science and other related disciplines. Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents (Singapore Permanent Residents must take up citizenship).

Organisation: The Loke Cheng-Kim Foundation

The Foundation was incorporated on 17 April 1968.  Its objective is to foster, develop and advance education of all kinds for the improvement of the standard of human living and social well-being and the relief of human suffering in the Republic of Singapore. 

Applicants should be Singapore citizens or permanent residents and should not be current holders of other scholarship awards or grants. The Board is looking particularly for applications in the fields of Pure Sciences, Natural and Environmental Sciences (including Ecology, Conservation Biology and Horticulture) and the Humanities. Particular consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate a capacity for independent thought and passion for their respective chosen fields.

A scholarship’s annual value will cover fees and book allowances, initial clothing allowance, maintenance allowance and one-time return economy class airfare and is tenable for the whole undergraduate course of study leading to a first degree.

Organisation: Agency for Science, Technology  and  Research

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) drives mission-oriented research that advances scientific discovery and technological innovation. They play a key role in nurturing and developing talent and leaders for their Research Institutes, the wider research community, and industry.

The A*star Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS) is open to Singapore Citizens with excellent results. Candidates should have a keen interest in Science and research as preference will be given to candidates with experience and notable achievements in science- or math-related projects and activities. 

The AUS includes tuition fees, hostel Fees, monthly allowance, research attachment opportunities at A*STAR Research Institutes  and one overseas exchange programme during the undergraduate studies (up to 6 months). Mid-term scholars will receive the same terms of support without retrospective payment. 

It is a bonded scholarship. The typical deadline for the AUS is in March, while for the mid-term AUS, the deadline is in May for the August intake and 31 Oct for the January intake.

Organisation: Mindef Scholarship Centre

The mission of MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces is to enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor.

The MINDEF Scholarship Centre (MSC) was established on 3 Nov 1999 as a one-stop information and liaison centre to assist prospective scholars on all issues and matters pertaining to the premier MINDEF/SAF Scholarships.

The Defence Merit Scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship. You can pursue your studies in a wide variety of studies ranging from social sciences to political science to mathematics (a detailed list is available on the website).

The scholarship covers full tuition fees and other approved academic charges, maintenance and other allowances, return airfare and a one-time sponsorship for summer exchange programmes. If applicable, sponsorship of a Master’s degree will be included.

Organisation: Monetary Authority of Singapore

The Monetary Authority of Singapore is the central bank of Singapore. Their mission is to promote sustained non-inflationary economic growth, and a sound and progressive financial centre.

The scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents and foreign citizens who will undertake to obtain Singapore citizenship. Students can choose to study any course with the exception of Medicine, Dentistry and Architecture. 

The scholarship includes tuition and other approved fees, maintenance allowance, pre-studies allowance, return airfare, the sponsorship of an exchange programme, study abroad programme or summer school and the sponsorship of a Master’s degree, if applicable. 

It is a bonded scholarship. Scholars will also have an 8-week internship during the second year of their undergraduate studies. 

There are two cycles for application: the provisional cycle closes in September and the regular cycle closes in March.

Organisation: Land Transport Authority

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport, which spearheads land transport developments in Singapore. As the agency responsible for planning, designing, building and maintaining Singapore’s land transport infrastructure and systems, they aim to bring about a greener and more inclusive public transport system, complemented by convenient options to walk and cycle from their homes or to their destinations. 

The LTA undergraduate scholarship is open to Singapore citizens, or Singapore Permanent Residents who take up Singapore citizenship before departure for studies. Excellent results and CCA records, leadership qualities and communication skills are also ideal in an applicant. 

The scholarship supports the following fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Accountancy, Economics / Geography / Mass Communications, and Science (Computer Science / IT Security & Communications / Data Analytics / Materials Science). 

The scholarship includes tuition and compulsory fees, maintenance allowance (including Book Allowance), hostel fees (for local students), sponsorship of a student exchange programme/summer school (upon approval), return Economy/Student airfare (for overseas scholars) and sponsorship of a Master’s degree (upon approval). Scholars will also be required to undergo a compulsory attachment of at least 8 weeks with LTA.

Organisation: National Arts Council 

The National Arts Council (NAC) champions the arts in Singapore. By nurturing creative excellence and supporting broad audience engagement, they want to develop Singapore as a distinctive global city where the arts inspire our people and connect our communities. 

The NAC scholarship is open to Singaporeans or Permanent Residents wishing to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts. Available courses range from music to creative writing to theatre to visual arts, with a full list available on the website. 

For local study, students will be sponsored up to 90 per cent of total costs subject to a maximum of $110,000, including tuition and compulsory fees. The sponsorship is the same for overseas study, but includes a monthly maintenance allowance and a one-time return airfare ticket. Countries available are subject to approval by the agency.

Organisation: Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA)

The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) implements defence technology plans, acquires defence equipment and supplies, and develops defence infrastructure for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

The DSTA Scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens. Aside from having excellent grades and co-curricular activities records, students interesting in this scholarship should also have a passion for science and technology. 

The scholarship will include tuition and compulsory fees, annual and other allowances , sponsorship for Overseas Student Exchange programme and Mid-course internship programme. The sponsorship for an approved Master's Programme (within stipulated sponsorship period) may also be included.

Organisation: Building and Construction Authority Singapore (BCA)

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is an agency under the Ministry of National Development (MND). Their mission is to provide Singapore with a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment to live, work and play in.

The BCA offers three scholarships. BCA Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship is open to students interested in Architecture & Sustainable Design, Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Structural Engineering. The BCA Local Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to students applying to local universities with excellent GCE 'O' and 'A' level results or Diploma results. The BCA Mid-Term Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to students currently pursing studies in NUS, NTU, SIT, SUTD and SMU.

Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Resident. They must also have excellent results and CCA records. 

The scholarship sponsors annual allowance, tuition fees and compulsory fees and sponsorship for student exchange programme. Scholars under the Mid-Term Undergraduate Scholarship programme will be reimbursed progressively after the course of study.

It is a bonded scholarship. Scholars will also have industrial attachments at BCA. They deadline for registration of the early cycle is in January and the main cycle in March.

Local Scholarships 

Organisation: SPRING Singapore

SPRING Singapore is an agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry responsible for helping Singapore enterprises grow and building trust in Singapore products and services.

The Executive Development Scholarship (EDS) is open to those with the desire to help drive business growth in local enterprises and in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) development work or be an entrepreneur down the road,. 

The scholarship welcomes Final Year undergraduates to apply early with their latest academic results from their course. Successful candidates are offered up to four years of full tuition and compulsory fees, monthly maintenance allowance and hostel fee subsidies. Computer allowance and approved sponsorship for overseas exchange programme are also provided.

The scholarship supports local undergraduate courses in NUS, NTU, SMU and SUTD, which are deemed suitable.  Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Architecture, Music, Real Estate, Facility Management, Industrial Design, Art, Design & Media, Education & Sports Science and equivalent courses are typically not supported under this scholarship.

Applicants must be Singapore citizens. They should also demonstrate strong written, communication and interpersonal skills and possess leadership potential. The typical deadline for application is in December. 

It is a bonded scholarship. Approved sponsorship for overseas exchange programme and internship opportunities are included.

Established in 2012, the Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) is the only multi-industry scholarship in partnership with the Singapore Government. This unique partnership provides a point of convergence for leading organisations in Singapore’s strategic sectors and bright minds aspiring to be leaders of tomorrow. 

Applicants must be Singapore citizens with good results, CCA records and leadership achievements. They should also be seeking admission or have been accepted for admission to a local public university across all disciplines excluding Dentistry, Medicine and other healthcare-related disciplines. They should also have a passion to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors.

It is a bonded scholarship including a sponsorship for an overseas exchange programme. The typical deadline for application is in March.

Organisation: Accountant-General’s Department (AGD) 

The Accountant-General’s Department (AGD) is a department under the Ministry of Finance (MOF). They partner the Ministry of Finance in making Singapore a better place through finance and closely cooperate with government agencies to raise the capabilities of financial management in the Public Sector. 

The AGD Accountancy Scholarship is awarded to Singapore citizens pursuing Accountancy at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore amd Singapore Management University.

The scholarship provides coverage of tuition Fees, hostel Fees (where applicable), maintenance and other allowances and support for student exchange program.
