SINGAPORE - Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing will be making his introductory visit to China from Sept 15 to 18.

In Beijing, Mr Chan, who is also Coordinating Minister for Public Services, will meet senior Chinese leaders and speak at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, said the Ministry of Defence on Sept 14.

The Beijing Xiangshan Forum brings together high-level defence, military and foreign affairs leaders from around the world to discuss a range of security issues.

It is co-organised by the China Association of Military Sciences and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, with the theme for the 2025 forum being “upholding international order and advancing peaceful development”.

“Mr Chan’s visit underscores the longstanding, warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and China,” said Mindef, adding that he will be accompanied by the Chief of Army, Major-General Cai Dexian, and other officials from the ministry.

During his visit, Mr Chan will visit the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) National Defence University, where he will engage senior PLA and provincial officials in a roundtable discussion.

He will also be hosted to a visit to the PLA Southern Theatre Command (STC) in Guangzhou and the STC Navy in Zhanjiang.
