Car went up in flames at Jurong West; no one injured

A car caught fire in front of Block 672A, Jurong West on Thursday (July 2) afternoon. A Straits Times reader took photos and videos of the incident which showed the front part of the vehicle going up in flames.

The fire, which involved the engine compartment of the car, was extinguished using one water jet, Singapore Civil Defence Force said.

SINGAPORE - A car caught fire in front of Block 672A, Jurong West on Thursday (July 2) afternoon.

Straits Times reader Dith Orlina took photos and videos of the incident which showed the front part of the vehicle going up in flames.

When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the incident happened at 12.40pm along Jurong West Street 65.

The fire, which involved the engine compartment of the car, was extinguished using one water jet, SCDF said.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Ms Orlina, a 30-year-old foreign domestic worker who lives on the 15th floor of the HDB block, said she did not see the driver when she looked out of the window.
