Buy a Japanese mountain to build a ski township? Ken Chan’s Patience Capital Group doing just that

The Singaporean investor, who used to head GIC Japan, wants to revitalise the traditional ski region of Myoko in Japan to rival the likes of Whistler and Vail.

Ken Chan is the former head of GIC Japan. His private equity firm, Patience Capital Group, has been buying up land in two ski mountains in central Japan. His goal? To develop them into world-class skiing and all-season holiday destinations.
