Events to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of modern Singapore must be a community effort, said Minister for Social and Family Development Desmond Lee.

Mr Lee, who co-chairs the Ministerial Steering Committee for the Singapore Bicentennial, said it will "consult widely" with its 16-member advisory panel which includes historians and academics.
