SINGAPORE – Ms Corinna Lim, executive director at women’s advocacy group Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware), will step down at the end of the year.

In a Facebook post on Oct 30, the non-profit organisation said Ms Lim Shoon Yin will take over from Ms Corinna Lim on Jan 1, 2026.

Ms Lim Shoon Yin is a consultant and global lead for diversity, equity and inclusion capability at Russell Reynolds Associates, an executive search and leadership advisory firm, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Thanking Ms Corinna Lim for her work, Aware said she was instrumental in growing the organisation.

“She has led the push for stronger workplace protections, better paternity leave, improved housing access for single mothers and stronger legal safeguards for survivors of sexual violence,” it said.

A Fulbright scholar, Ms Corinna Lim, 60, holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York, as well as a law degree from the National University of Singapore.

After being called to the Singapore Bar in 1988, she started her legal career at law firm Allen & Gledhill before moving on to Khattar Wong & Partners, and later, Koh Ong & Partners.

While practising law, she played a key role in helping to draft the domestic violence Bill that orthopaedic surgeon and former Nominated MP Kanwaljit Soin – a former Aware president herself – tabled in Parliament in 1995.

In 2000, Ms Corinna Lim started tech firm Bizibody Technology with her twin sister, also a lawyer, and was its chief executive for five years. She was appointed Aware’s first executive director in 2010, having joined Aware in March 1992 and provided free legal counselling at its legal clinic.

Ms Lim Shoon Yin will take over at Aware after a storied career working for a raft of multinational corporations – including Shell, Microsoft and Swiss fragrance manufacturer Givaudan – where she helped advance diversity and inclusion.

Aware said: “Across her career, she has worked to dismantle systemic barriers, champion women’s leadership, and create safer and more inclusive workplaces – commitments that lie at the heart of Aware’s feminist mission.”

Ms Lim Shoon Yin is also a mother of four, a Special Olympics volunteer and a long-time advocate for disability and LGBTQ+ inclusion, Aware added.
