SINGAPORE - Myanmar state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi toured one of Singapore's national institutions - a hawker centre - and tried some local fare on Friday (Dec 2) morning.

She was hosted by Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to a breakfast of chwee kueh and fried carrot cake, among other dishes, at Ghim Moh Market and Food Centre.

Also on the menu were tau huay, putu mayam, laksa and coffee and tea.

Ms Suu Kyi, who is on the last day of her three-day official trip to Singapore, was greeted by a crowd of dozens that later swelled to at least a hundred, mostly curious onlookers and hawkers.
