SINGAPORE – The disruption to StarHub’s broadband and TV services has been fully resolved, the telco said in an update on Aug 21.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, a StarHub spokesperson said: “Our team worked diligently to reroute traffic and restore services as quickly as possible. All services should now be functioning normally.”

The spokesperson added that StarHub users who were still facing connectivity issues could reboot the router, along with the set-top box if necessary, to ensure proper service restoration.

“We are focused on ensuring the stability and reliability of our services. Our customer service team remains available for any further assistance. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and deeply appreciate the patience and understanding shown by our customers during this time,” the spokesperson said.

. The outage, which was progressively resolved after 9pm, stemmed from problems with StarHub’s domain name system (DNS) servers.

The DNS is akin to a phone book that matches domain names, such as those in website addresses, to internet protocol addresses, which are strings of numbers that identify devices on the internet.

The Downdetector website, which tracks outages and disruptions, had registered more than 7,500 reports at around 8.30pm on Aug 20.
