A banner (right) was raised over Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery yesterday as part of a seven-day Buddhist prayer ceremony known as the Grand Prayer that Blesses and Benefits All Sentient Beings. The prayer is meant to liberate all such beings from suffering by making offerings which generate merit. Yesterday marked the fourth day of the ceremony. At night, the banner is replaced by lanterns so that wandering spirits will attend the prayer and receive the blessings.
