SINGAPORE - After 250,000 votes, the best brands and services across 27 categories have been chosen as the readers' favourites at the annual AsiaOne People's Choice Awards ceremony today.
Out of 500 nominations, 251 advanced to the voting stage. The final 81 brands and services in the 27 categories where chosen after a three-month voting period.
The banking category garnered the most votes with DBS, OCBC and POSB emerging as the Top Three winnners.
DBS and Singapore Airlines were also inducted into the Hall of Fame for taking the No. 1 spot five years in a row, in their respective categories.
To reflect changes in consumer trends, two new categories were introduced: Best Online Retailer and Best Brunch Restaurant.
Qoo10, Lazada, and Taobao proved to be the most popular sites for online shopping among AsiaOne readers. Wild Honey, GRUB and Maison Ikkoku were voted as their favourite restaurants for brunch.
At the awards ceremony at M Hotel, AsiaOne officially launched its newly revamped mobile apps, which are available for free across all iOS platforms and Android smartphones.
AsiaOne also announced its partnership with social service organisation Students Care Service (SCS). The tie-up is part of AsiaOne's corporate social responsibility efforts in its 20th anniversary year.
Said Ms Rae Mok Rui Wen, SCS manager, Community Partnership: "We hope that their stories will increase the public's awareness of the emotional and psychological needs of children and youth, and provide support for them and the work of children and youth organisations like SCS.
