50-year-old man arrested for alleged involvement in armed robbery

A 50-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery near Raffles Place.

SINGAPORE - A 50-year-old man was arrested on Thursday (June 29) for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery that occurred on June 21.

The robbery that occurred near Raffles Place at about 6pm was reported by a 29-year-old woman who said that an unknown man had robbed her at knifepoint after assaulting her.

Her wallet and mobile phone were taken by the suspect.

Officers from the Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect on Thursday and arrested him at about 5.30pm along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

The suspect will be charged in court on July 1 with armed robbery with hurt. If convicted, he faces a jail term of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
