SINGAPORE - The personal contact details of more than 400 NSmen were sent to one another by mistake after a government-appointed vendor made a technical error.

The 427 men from the Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team had redeemed credits for service-linked rewards - the NS Excellence Award and Celebratory Gifts for Operationally Ready National Servicemen.

The company in charge of these gift redemptions, Option Gift, said the men received the personal details on Tuesday (12 June) due to an "erroneous programme script". It apologised for the error.

"The company has notified the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs," Option Gift said in a statement on Thursday evening. "We have also informed all affected NSmen of the error."

The company added that this was an "isolated incident" and that redemption services for all servicemen - including the affected group - are not affected.

In a joint statement, both ministries said that they are aware of the incident and are investigating.

"(We) have put in place measures to prevent a recurrence," they added.

NSmen who have questions about the incident can call the NS Call Centre on 1800-3676767.
