SINGAPORE - A 32-year-old man has been arrested for molesting a woman near the Upper Thomson area.
The 24-year-old victim made a police report on Sept 30 at 2.25am, saying she was molested by a stranger.
The molest allegedly occurred in Jalan Sappan, a lane in Sembawang Hills Estate.
Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division identified the man after investigating and using images from police cameras.
He was arrested near Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9 on Monday (Oct 9).
He will be charged with the offence of outrage of modesty.
If convicted, he can be jailed up to 10 years and caned.
Molest cases in the first half of this year went up by 9.5 per cent from 655 cases in the first half of last year to 717 cases in the first half of this year, according to mid-year crime statistics revealed by the police in August.
