SINGAPORE – Three people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision involving six cars, three taxis and two buses in Bras Basah Road on the morning of June 5, just outside Chijmes.
The 44-year-old driver of a car, his 49-year-old female passenger and a 58-year-old taxi driver were conscious when they were taken to hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which like the police was alerted to the accident at about 9.40am.
SCDF said two people were taken to Raffles Hospital and one to Singapore General Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing.
Images circulating on social media show a dark-coloured multi-purpose vehicle with its bonnet smashed in and a front tyre dislodged.
In front of it, a silver hatchback appears undamaged. A yellow taxi is seen farther ahead, with its left rear passenger door damaged.
At least one netizen reported that traffic along the busy downtown stretch was significantly affected in the aftermath of the crash.
The June 5 accident is the latest in a series of chain collisions in Singapore. At least four other multi-vehicle accidents have occurred over the past two months.
