SINGAPORE - A celebration with friends at an Ang Mo Kio coffee shop ended on bad note for three men, who were arrested just after midnight on Sunday (June 3).

The Straits Times understands that a fight broke out among the trio at the coffee shop at Block 711 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, after a man in the group wanted to head home after a few drinks.

The group comprised six friends - four Chinese nationals and two Malaysians - who had gathered to celebrate the fact that two of them would be returning to their home country soon.

When some of them suggested to move to another location to have more drinks, the rest refused.

This led to tension in the group, eventually sparking a fight among the three men.

In response to queries, the police said they were alerted to a call for assistance at about 12.15am.

Three men, aged between 35 and 39, were arrested for affray, the police said.

A man was unconscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. ST understands that he was among the three men who were arrested.

Chinese language newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported on Sunday that a woman was seen sobbing next to a man who was being taken away on a stretcher.

There were spots of blood seen on her hands and clothes.

More than 10 police officers were also at the scene, Wanbao said.

Investigations are ongoing.
