SINGAPORE – A multi-vehicle accident on the AYE resulted in 22 people being taken to hospital while conscious on the morning of April 17.
At least 15 motorcycles, a van, a lorry, and three buses were involved in the accident, according to a police statement on April 18.
In video footage of the accident on the Both Checkpoint Facebook page, two Causeway Link buses, which ferry travellers between Singapore and Johor Bahru, a van and a lorry can be seen at the crash site, located on the AYE heading east, before the Tuas flyover.
Several motorcycles were also seen strewn on the roadside, and a handful of people were seated beside the crash site, with the authorities nearby.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at 7.55am.
The SCDF said that nine people were taken to the National University Hospital, while the other 13 people were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
