SINGAPORE - Twenty-one motorists aged between 31 and 68 years old are expected to be charged on Feb 20 with drink driving.
They were arrested between July 2024 and February 2025 after failing breathalyser tests during enforcement checks, said the police on Feb 19.
Three of the motorists are repeat offenders, and one of them is also facing an additional charge of driving without due care or reasonable consideration.
The 68-year-old man was caught driving against the flow of traffic by entering a carpark along Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on Aug 20, 2024.
As he was unable to enter the carpark through the gantry, he reversed his vehicle and mounted the kerb on the right side of the road.
The other two male repeat offenders, aged 42 and 41, were found driving under the influence of alcohol on July 6, 2024, and Dec 14, 2024, respectively. Both men were previously convicted for the same offence. If found guilty again, the men will serve a mandatory jail sentence.
First-time offenders of drink driving face a fine of up to $10,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months, or both.
Those who are convicted for the first time of driving without due care or reasonable consideration risk a fine of up to $1,500, or a jail term of up to six months, or both.
