SINGAPORE - A fire broke out in the bedroom of a 48th floor unit at the Pinnacle@Duxton in the early hours of Monday (May 21), with a man and a woman taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told The Straits Times that it responded to a fire at Block 1D Cantonment Road at about 4.15am.

"The fire, involving contents of a bedroom, was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets," it said.

A man and a woman in their 60s were taken to the Singapore General Hospital in a conscious state.

ST understands that they suffered from smoke inhalation.

SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
