SINGAPORE – Two jetties on St John’s and Kusu islands will be temporarily closed from April 24

The St John’s Island jetty and Kusu Island bumboat jetty will be closed for structural checks and repair works to ensure they remain safe for use, said the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) on April 21.

The initial phase, which SLA said will last for around a year, will involve a comprehensive investigation into the jetties’ structure to determine the works needed to strengthen them.

Work during this phase will include an environmental impact assessment, which will be carried out prior to any major strengthening or rebuilding works.

The two islands will remain open to the public, and SLA advised the public to use alternative jetties – the Seringat jetty and the Kusu Island main jetty – to get to them.

Seringat jetty is a 30-minute walk from the St John’s Island jetty, while the Kusu Island main jetty is a three-minute walk from the Kusu Island bumboat jetty.
