SINGAPORE - Two cars were caught in a morning blaze on a flyover along the PIE on April 28, causing traffic congestion.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at about 7.20am to a fire on the PIE towards Changi Airport, after the Paya Lebar Road exit.

The SCDF said its rescuers extinguished the fire involving the two cars using a water jet and a compressed air foam backpack.

A 33-year-old female driver sustained minor injuries but refused to be taken to hospital, said the police.

A 39-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations, they added.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Visuals circulating online show two cars bumper to bumper on the extreme right lane. Flames are engulfing the rear of a white sedan as well as the front of a black SUV which is in contact with the other car.

Other images show the fire having been put out, with police and SCDF vehicles at the site alongside the charred cars.

Some commuters said they were stuck in traffic.

The Land Transport Authority posted on X after 7.30am that there was congestion on the PIE towards Changi until Kallang and later Kim Keat Link because of the incident.
