SINGAPORE – Singaporeans can continue to buy festive and essential goods on the first day of Chinese New Year on Jan 29, at 151 FairPrice outlets which will remain open for business.
Of these, 42 stores will stay open for 24 hours and 105 will close at 5pm, said the supermarket operator on Jan 14.
The remaining four outlets – at Clarke Quay, Jewel Changi Airport, Changi Airport Terminal 3 and Balmoral Plaza – will keep to their normal operating hours.
FairPrice Group (FPG) runs 164 stores islandwide.
FPG said keeping the 151 stores open on the first day of the festivities is part of its move to “make every day a little better by keeping daily essentials within reach for all in Singapore, especially as families across the island plunge head first into CNY preparations”.
The group will also be extending its operating hours on Jan 27 at six FairPrice Xtra stores, which will close at 2am instead of the usual 11pm. These stores are at Changi Business Park, Hougang One, Jem, Kallang Wave Mall, Parkway Parade and Vivocity.
On Jan 28 – the eve of CNY – 35 stores will be open for 24 hours, while 128 will remain open till 5pm. FPG’s outlet at Block 212 Bedok North Street 1 will close at 11pm.
All 164 FairPrice stores will resume normal operating hours on the second day of CNY on Jan 30.
Further details of each store’s opening hours are available on FairPrice’s website
