SINGAPORE – A 22-year-old man will be charged with murder on Sept 23 after a brawl involving at least six people in the wee hours of

Sept 22 saw one man killed and another injured.

Another three men and two women will be charged with rioting armed with a deadly weapon, said police in a statement.

Police said they received a call for assistance in Verdun Road, where Kim San Leng Eating House is located, at 4.05am on Sept 22. Two men, aged 24 and 25, were taken unconscious to hospital, where the latter subsequently died.

The three men to be charged with rioting are aged between 20 and 23, while both the women are 24.

The offence of murder carries the death penalty, while those found guilty of rioting armed with a deadly weapon may be jailed for up to 10 years and caned.

Police investigations are ongoing.
