SINGAPORE - Minister of Transport Khaw Boon Wan was happy to have met his predecessor Lui Tuck Yew at an event on Thursday (Jan 14), he said in a Facebook post.

Mr Khaw described Mr Lui, 54, as being "relaxed" and looking "considerably younger".

The duo were at the Singapore Maritime Foundation's New Year cocktail reception.

Mr Lui, who became Transport Minister in 2011, did not stand for re-election at the 2015 General Election.

In the same Facebook post, Mr Khaw complimented the maritime community, as they remained upbeat and confident of the future, "despite the industry being in a down cycle".

"That is the spirit which will enable us to fly the Singapore flag high in maritime circles!" he added.
