MPs' stories during debate give voice to plight of injured workers

The stories of Mr Fan, Mr Zhang, Ahmad, Jamal and "R" were given an airing in Parliament yesterday as MPs debated and passed a new work injury compensation law. When doing so, the MPs related the plight of these injured individuals who fell through the cracks or were inadequately protected by the current system.

The stories lent a human touch to proceedings and told of the challenges these workers - and perhaps many others - faced in trying to get their lives back on track after getting injured.
