Johor Baru's old shopping district used to have shops that sold only traditional jewellery, tailored clothes and religious artefacts.
Today, the area around Jalan Trus and Jalan Dhoby has added vibrancy, thanks to hipster hangouts like Chaiwalla & Co, a cafe which operates out of a shipping container in Jalan Tan Hiok Nee.
