It was with great fanfare that seven opposition parties here came together last year to discuss forming a coalition led by former People's Action Party MP Tan Cheng Bock.
At least three of the parties, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), People's Power Party (PPP) and Reform Party, had also signed a resolution on greater opposition unity which was discussed at the meeting.
