In September 2022, Singtel’s Australian subsidiary Optus, one of Australia’s largest telecommunications providers,

suffered one of the country’s largest data breaches and cyber attacks

affecting 9.8 million Australians.

The attack also resulted in a 2 per cent drop in share price and a A$1.2 billion (S$1.04 billion) brand hit, with 10 per cent of all customers leaving within six weeks.
