What’s in a name? A great deal, it seems. US President Donald Trump’s recent decision to

rename his country’s Department of Defence

as the Department of War was met with a mixture of amusement and anger.

Many politicians and commentators viewed this as yet another example of the Trump administration’s pointless theatrics, no different from the President’s decision to adorn the White House’s Oval Office with so many gold embellishments that the place now resembles an antiques store.
