As a traditionalist on Chinese New Year celebrations, I would never fly off on vacation during this period to escape nosey relatives – I might even be the nosey relative. (Before the CNY naysayers turn up their noses and say neigh, more on this later.)

The festival is my only chance in the entire year to meet members of my larger family and wild horses cannot drag me away from it.
