Not many outside education circles knew what the abbreviation CCE stood for until the latest furore erupted over the teaching of the Israel-Hamas conflict. 

The lesson, which has been rolled out for upper-primary, secondary and pre-university students as part of character and citizenship education (CCE) lessons since mid-February, had sparked discussion on social media over how it had been taught.
