The tech sector is booming, but Singapore’s tech graduates are struggling to find jobs

At first sight, now seems like a good time to join the tech sector. Singapore’s digital economy contributed 18.6 per cent of gross domestic product and supported 214,000 tech jobs in 2024, according to the Infocomm Media Development Authority. Singapore is also going all in on artificial intelligence in this Budget.

Yet for many fresh tech graduates, these headline numbers feel increasingly disconnected from lived experience. Despite strong sectoral growth, securing a first technology role has become a little more challenging, particularly for graduates from computer science, software engineering and information systems programmes.
