The rhetoric of social movements in Singapore

Another rhetorical strategy that works in the Singapore context, Dr Navera says, is the use of quantification.

Different cultural contexts take to different kinds of rhetorical strategies, said Dr Gene Segarra Navera, who teaches the class Citizen Speak: Persuasion and Polarisation in Society at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Referring to case studies of rhetoric used by Singapore-based social movements, Dr Navera said a common persuasive strategy used in the local context is “concession-refutation”.
